Description of Research Projects:
My research interests have previously explored the memory enhancing effects of drugs of abuse and drug conditioned stimuli (CS). Specifically, this work has explored the overlapping neurochemical systems activated by acute post-training administration of cocaine, nicotine, heroin, and contextual conditioned stimuli paired with their behavioural effects. This work has revealed that drug CSs activate similar noradrenergic, dopaminergic, and cholinergic systems to facilitate object recognition memory consolidation. My current research interests involve exploring how parvalbumin positive GABA interneurons tune perirhinal neurons in object discrimination.
