We are thrilled to announce that Ashlyn Hersey successfully defended her master’s thesis titled “Developing a novel touchscreen-based test of cognitive judgement bias” on May 31st, 2024, with zero corrections! Ashlyn started in the lab as an undergraduate volunteer and progressed to do her honour’s undergraduate thesis followed by a summer award internship, and then continued on as a graduate student. During her time with us, she contributed to several projects in addition to her master’s thesis, presented at various conferences, and was the recipient of several awards, including: NSERC CGSM, OGS & DUROP.
Despite being awarded a CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral (CGS-D) for her PhD proposal on “A touchscreen-based test of cognitive judgement bias for better translation from mouse models to human patients,” Ashlyn has declined both the award and staying in the lab to do a PhD. We are sad to see her go, but are so proud of what she’s accomplished and how she is going to pursue her goals of becoming a medical doctor by attending the MD program at the University of Toronto.
Ashlyn says that she will take with her some fond memories of “Meeting amazing people and developing friendships, presenting at conferences, going to SFN in Washington, watching the mice perform touchscreen tasks!”
Way to go superstar!
