Congratulations to Barman, a fourth year medical science undergraduate student with a specialization in physiology and pharmacology, for being awarded with a BrainsCAN Diversity in Neuroscience Summer Internship this past summer. He has been working closely with TCNLab MD/PhD candidate and Vanier Scholar, I Shahnaza Hamidullah, on cholinergic modulation of PV neurons related to attention. Barman says that that “working in the TCNLab and with Shahnaza has been a great experience where [he] learned various scientific techniques such as fiber photometry that are used to measure the activity of PV neurons using their calcium dynamics.”

Outside of lab, Barman enjoys calisthenic training and weightlifting, as well as a good meal following a workout. (Believe it or not, he can do pushups with only two fingers!!)
Well done Barman! Glad to have you in the lab as a DIN awardee and thesis project student! Keep up all the great work.
